Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) are an integral part of the Irish economy and is a growing area that is set to be a fundamental part of Ireland’s future success as a country.
In Coláiste Iósaef, we are conscious of improving the quality of provision and teaching in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
Our curriculum affords all our students the opportunity to engage in the above subjects at Junior and Senior Cycle.
We are conscious about the need to provide STEM Education of the highest quality if Ireland is to deliver on its ambitions to be a hub of technological creativity and an innovation leader.
The school is in the process of developing its own STEM policy. This will see the school deliver one of the most comprehensive STEM programmes in the country. At the heart of this is the concept of introducing the STEM subjects to pupils in the local primary schools.
In 2019, the school will be launching an innovative STEM link initiative with a select number of local schools. This initiative will afford pupils the opportunity to engage in these subjects as well as developing the key skills of:
- Problem Solving
- Logical Thinking
