In Colaiste losaef we are passionate about Science and Technology. Our curriculum is focused on fostering a curiosity about the workings of the world we live in. Students are taught a variety of content that covers the three main Sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) as well as Technology and Engineering.

To further engage our students we organise relevant day trips and participate annually in the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition.

STEM at Coláiste Iósaef

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) are an integral part of the Irish economy and is a growing area that is set to be a fundamental part of Ireland’s future success as a country.

In Coláiste Iósaef, we are conscious of improving the quality of provision and teaching in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

Our curriculum affords all our students the opportunity to engage in the above subjects at Junior and Senior Cycle.

The school is in the process of developing its own STEM policy. This will see the school deliver one of the most comprehensive STEM programmes in the country. At the heart of this is the concept of introducing the STEM subjects to pupils in the local primary schools. Download the STEM Education in the Irish School System.

In 2019/2020, the school will be launching an innovative STEM link initiative with a select number of local schools. This initiative will afford pupils the opportunity to engage in these subjects as well as developing the key skills of:

  • Problem Solving
  • Innovation
  • Invention
  • Logical Thinking
