STEAM

In Coláiste lósaef we are passionate about Science and Technology. Our curriculum is focused on fostering a curiosity about the workings of the world we live in. Students are taught a variety of content that covers the three main Sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) as well as Technology and Engineering.

To further engage our students we organise relevant day trips and participate annually in the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition.

STEAM at Coláiste Iósaef

Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) are an integral part of the Irish economy and is a growing area that is set to be a fundamental part of Ireland’s future success as a country.

Our curriculum affords all our students the opportunity to engage in the above subjects at Junior and Senior Cycle.

The school is in the process of developing its own STEAM policy. This will see the school deliver one of the most comprehensive STEAM programmes in the country. At the heart of this is the concept of introducing the STEAM subjects to pupils in the local primary schools.

In 2022/2023, the school will be launching an innovative STEAM link initiative with a select number of local schools. This initiative will afford pupils the opportunity to engage in these subjects as well as developing the key skills of:

  • Problem Solving
  • Innovation
  • Invention
  • Logical Thinking
